TerranScapes ~ Custom Orders
TerranScapes specializes in meeting the specific needs of each individual customer. Changing existing work, developing new products, or creating one of a kind pieces are all welcome. Please review this page carefully to understand how this process is handled.
Initial Consultation on a project -
There are no charges for consultation while we work through the details of a potential project. An open and free flowing dialogue is critical to making sure the final order meets a customer's vision as closely as possible. Customers are strongly encouraged to send pictures when every possible to help guide the process. In addition, if customers have existing terrain, colors, flocking, etc. that need to be matched, sending samples may be required.
During the working process -
Once work has begun, videos are provided (via YouTube) at key junction points to discuss the progress and clarify how the work should move forward. I usually only provide videos for key junctions as they are time consuming to produce. A video of the completed project as well as detailed photos are also provided to ensure customer satisfaction prior to shipping.
Pricing and Payment -
Working time is priced at $45/hour. This is time spent
on the piece itself, broken down in 1/2 hour increments. An estimate of the
price of a project will be provided prior to beginning work but it can be
hard to estimate some aspects of the work required. Final costs for a project
will be capped at the estimate +20% should extra time be required. A deposit
of 50% of the estimate will be required before work begins. The deposit will
be required just prior to beginning the work. The balance will be requested
when the project is approved and packed, along with final shipping charges.
Modifications to Existing Pieces -
I am always willing to modify pieces to fit a customer's needs and this does not count as 'Custom Work'. However, I have discovered that occasionally these modifications do add a measurable amount of extra work to a project. When these types of modifications are required, an extra charge of $45/hr will be added to cover the extra time and labor. These charges will be billed for at the time of shipping along with any extra shipping charges required. I will always do my best to notify the customer of this policy when we discuss the modifications and provide a rough estimate of what extra time may be required. Potential customers are of course, encouraged to inquire about this policy when modifications are proposed.
Getting in the Work Queue Early -
Customers may want to get a slot in the work queue before the details and estimate are finalized. To provide for this, you can hold a slot with a $100 deposit towards the project. By using the shopping button below, you can slot the project as early as possible while we discuss the scope of the project. Should you decide to withdraw the project within 60 days of entering the work queue, the deposit is fully refundable. It is not necessary to to make a deposit before contacting me with questions. This service is mainly provided for those who earliest slot possible in the work queue. As with any other type of order, you will be contacted in 1-2 business days with confirmation of you deposit. TerranScapes of course holds the right to refuse a project (with refund of deposit). I won't take on a project that I don't feel confident I can finish to a very high quality.
