Granary walls and firing platforms - $130
(Completed 10/31)
This wall set and firing platforms are desgined to accompany the granary previously
completed for a historical diorama. The walls attach to the granary and on
one side featured a hastily assembled firing platform. The platform was assembled
from materials on site, mainly lumber and barrels. An additional smaller building
is planned to accompany this wall set.
For the is project I scultped masters for the barrels and crates and created molds so I could cast them in UltraCal30. The platforms are just over 25mm tall with the lumber laid across the barrels. I opted to keep the barrels and wood separate to facilitate transportation as the weight of the barrels would likely break the glued lumber of the platforms as they are constructed form balsa wood. I applied a new technique to painting the boards using various shades of paint and a GW wash to produce various levels of weathering which is subtle but very effective. I think it grabs the feel of boards collected from a variety of sites very well. One style of barrels was 2-3 mm taller than the rest so I opted to leave that barrel exposed through the lumber for visual interest. The soldiers could stand directly on the barrel this way. Since I don't own any Nepolianic forces, I used my GW Dark Elf Warriors for a scale comparison. These models are 28mm tall.
