Pandoran Themed Display Board for Warhammer Fantasy Miniatures (28mm scale)

This project was a large undertaking to create a 20" x 20" display board modeled on the Pandora planet from Avatar. The customer requested that I model a tree of souls on a raised hill as a central focus, and have two floating moutains. The moutain supports are concealed in the waterfalls which were offset to enhance the illusion of suspension. The second, smaller floating moutain was built to be removable for shipping purposes. The display, which comprises three separate boards, features a very wide assortment of vegetation and some rock clusters to create a jungle like feel. Bright assortments of plants were chosen to reflect the array of colors in the plant life present on Pandora. The wood veneer was cherry stained to give the display some warmth, as the cold rock faces of the floating mountains are a dominant visual component of the display. The central hill, at ground level center, was made as a removable piece to allow for more flexibility in displaying troops on the boards. The total height of the display is approximately 14" to the tip of the foliage.
